Goodbye beautiful flowers

Today we took another step towards beautifying our landscape, although it currently looks a whole lot uglier. Ike got a hold of a chainsaw and took down all of our trees save one.  Here's the hit list: three fruit trees that were rotten inside, three lilac trees that were drooping from years of neglect, a snowball flower bush thing that was massive and unruly, a black walnut tree that was mingling with the power lines, and the grapevine and trellis. I was sad to see our afternoon shade disappear, along with the wonderful flowers that were all in bloom. Yes, this summer will be hot and embarrassing! I just keep reminding myself that come fall, we will enjoy choosing new trees, plants and grass (hopefully some with end of season mark downs). One step at a time!

Esther and I took the opportunity to bring some bouquets into the house.

This tree was the most worrisome for me.  It was tall enough to be entangled with the power lines.  Ike had an interesting set up, and I am pleased to report that we didn't lose our power and Isaac is unharmed! We had called the power company, but the tree company they contract with had moved on to Yakima and the soonest they could come out was late fall.  We want to stump grind now!!!

The Girls

We took the girls to Pioneer Park (once again!) for a little fun and a small photo shoot.  This was our first attempt at Gracie's two year old photos.

The girls were having a blast! Not sure if we got "studio quality" pics, but these are fun.

More Mother's Day

Sunday afternoon we went for a bike ride and this is where we ended up... a great little playground. It was nice to enjoy a relaxed Sunday with just the four of us.

More little painted piggies...

Walla Walla Balloon Stampede

Every Mother's Day weekend the Hot Air Balloons come to town.  Friday night we saw some in the sky and decided to follow them to the fields where they landed. The girls were so impressed at their size up close... I love having those experiences that give them something exciting to talk about!  The chatter between the two girls at breakfast was amusing to listen to.

I didn't post any pictures of this event, but on Saturday night all of the balloons line up on the track at the fair grounds and "inflate" after dark.  Every time they fire it up the entire balloon glows. The whole process is rather amazing and incredible up close.

An Amazing Mother's Day

So many blessings....

What a wonderful life.
