The first concert @ The PUSH

Gracie is hugging her "friend". Really need to get that girl mixin with some better company... old posts will not do!

MC'ing the concert. Not a huge crowd... 55 paid. Probably 75 in attendance total. The door is barely cracking open on what we are going to be doing in the PUSH. It was an exciting night, the bands were fantastic!

Sons of Day christening the PUSH with their very good live performance. One of those bands that is better live than on cd.

Not according to plan... but still fun!

Esther and Gracie learning about the ways of Japanese landscaping at the Japanese Gardens inside one of the Spokane parks. I think that the Japanese are major OCD. When I was in Japan on layover in Tokyo I noticed how rediculously clean everything was... same goes for their landscaping... All Japanese Gardens are is very clean gardening... every plant and path...... clean.

Look what was staying at the hotel next to us... we drove up for a closer look.

Little baby beaver at the riverside park... didn't expect to see these little fellas.

Everything was seemingly within walking distance from our hotel, it was nice. We only had to walk through the riverfront park to get there... but that was nice. I am using that word a lot... nice.

Here we are after riding the carousel. Esther and Grace seemed to have a great time... it was just like in Mary Poppins.

Pre-ride picture

Grace was so tired that she fell asleep between putting a fishy cracker in her mouth and chewing it.

Gracie on the famous iron goat... If you haven't heard of it...get on board!

@ the park

on the giant red wagon... fairly unexciting up in the actual wagon, and it had scary stairs that we could have hurt ourselves on.

Amy and Grace

Gracie and the clock tower.

Amy and the girls walking accross the bridge to the park. On our way to lots of walking around downtown. Why does Spokane exist? I understand Seattle because of all of the ports etc. But Spokane seems to have nothing...I don't get it.

And finally our lovely hotel. It was perfect. a dividable room with 2 tv's. And a great view of the neighboring Red Lion hotel parking lot...and part of the river. It was a great time as a family!

Celebrating Easter

Our Easter holiday was very unusual this year... both Esther and Grace were very ill.  It started with Grace on Maundy Thursday, and consequently the girls and I stayed home from the foot washing service.  Sunday morning Esther woke up with a high temp. It was difficult to make the decision to stay home on Easter sunday! After a call to my very patient and wise sister =) I had more peace about staying home.  I knew it was the right thing to do and the best situation for my girls, but still lonely.

Despite our sleepless nights, high temps and runny noses, we did still manage to talk about the reason for Easter and have a little fun with it!

Thanks to Grammie for the egg dying kit!  This was our very first year to dye eggs.  Papa was so loving to do this activity with the girls while I ran to the store for stuff and things.  Apparently the girls had a blast, and the kit had stickers... always a big hit.

A sleepy looking kiddo with her egg...

Gracie's egg didn't last long.  It was reported that during the process of decorating the egg it was dropped a few times.  (that isn't a yellow sticker, it's the yoke!)

Our little bunny.  Thanks for the sweet ears Aunt Cindy!

Grace Ann

On Friday, April 3rd, Grace had a birthday!  She is now 2 years old.  I can hardly believe that my baby is growing up, but everyday I see a girl who never ceases to amaze me!  You may not notice at first glance, but her mind is always working, soaking in what she can.  She has always loved to climb, yet she is a little clumsy.  We often joke about the irony of her name Grace whenever she takes a little tumble!  I do believe that her name fits her, not for her physical abilities so much as for her loving, tender heart.  From an early age she has been a nurturer, loving anything she could shove in the crook of her arm and pat calling "bebee."  She loves to snuggle and give kisses, and she loooves her papa- in church on sunday she kept hugging him and giggling, she was so happy to be in his arms.

Anyone who has had the chance to really get to know her can't help but smile and love her.  She has a natural way of being delightful.  It is not an attempt to get or keep your attention, it is an effortless way of being that causes people to watch her.  She has a big imagination and loves to follow her big sister.  My girls are amazing.  I just pray that God can grant Isaac and I the wisdom to raise them well, and I pray that as they grow He can capture their little hearts.  God knew what he was talking about when he said this:

"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is His reward."
Psalm 127:3

We took the girls to the park on friday.  Of course we had a blast!  Until a really large girl pushed Esther down the curly slide and caused her to bump her head a couple of times on the way down.  Let's just say I wasn't too happy... but I think I behaved well.  Later I had to chuckle.  I walked away from the park thinking, "some people's kids!" and had completely forgotten that mine were not perfect!  Despite the bumps and bruises, we all enjoyed Gracie's birthday.  Esther kept saying, "I like Gracie's birthday!"  I am glad to see her enjoy making her sister happy, and of course there was cake.

Happy Birthday Grace!

One of the things I try to do to make the girls feel special is hang streamers on the doorway of their bedroom.  Gracie really enjoyed it, and plopped right down to investigate!

Anticipation!  Thank you to all of our wonderful family for thinking of her as her birthday approached.  Although we didn't have the chance to celebrate together, her day was very special.

A little ticklish!  I can't wait to see her in her grass skirt- lol!

Gracie is such a dear girl.  I can't imagine a day without her- we love you, sweetie!

Ephesians - Yay!

This morning I decided to read a devotional in my email that I received a couple of days ago.  It is part of a ministry that sends out monthly emails to moms and dads.  Once again God's word spoke truth into my life just when I needed it!  The article was addressing questions that I have had about raising and training my two daughters, and I thank God for bringing me face to face with the heart of the issue, my heart!  The scripture reference that spoke to me the most was Ephesians 4:31-32, ironically I chose verse 32 as our memory verse for the week.  Wow! Here I am trying to teach my girls to be tenderhearted and kind, while I am being impatient and frustrated with them.  Thank God for his continual work in our hearts.  If you would like to check out the article, go here.

One more thing.  This devotional gave me a desire to read Ephesians tonight.  Little did I know that I would come to a scripture that would stand out for so many other reasons.  For your reading pleasure, and hopefully the same encouraging strength, comfort and hope that I found...

"For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.  Now unto hin that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen."
Ephesians 3:14-21
